Connor Malpass caused the death of Natasha Woroch dangerous driving.
He had been drinking and taking nitrous oxide before he crashed on the A161 at Belton in July 2023.
He was said to have been driving more than 80mph in a 30mph speed zone at the time.
Natasha Woroch had been a passenger in his car, along with two other people, at the time.
The court heard that he had repetedly ignored requests by his passengers to slow down.
The court heard that when he got out of the wreckage of his car that he had had a baloon in his mouth, somthing commonly used to inhale nitrous oxide.
He was initially jailed for 10 years and six months, but his sentence was appealed and increased to 13 years and six months.
